Shifu Joe Dunphy
REMEMBERING MASTER JOE DUNPHY
IFC Martial Arts and Fitness has been under the instruction and direction of former World Champion and multi-system, Black Belt-Sash, Master Joe Dunphy. Our Tien Shan Pai school name is a tribute to our legendary teacher and his given nickname “Iron Fist”.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Master Dunphy had studied Martial Arts for several decades with Black Belt-Sashes in various systems. His primary training and allegiance was to Grandmaster Huang Chien-Liang, and the Tien Shan Pai system.
Master Dunphy was one of the elite Instructors in the nation to be a certified Tien Shan Pai Instructor with Lei Tai (Self Defense with Full Contact Sparring, Grappling, and Combat Suia Jow (Throwing Arts) experience. Under his tutelage, the school has won many awards for quality and service, competition, and is a testament to the skills passed from him to us, as his students since his first school opened in 1984.
